Last Days of Pompeii (classic landscape art print)
This is a reproduction of Karl Brulloffs masterpiece, "The Last Days of Pompeii". This Russian painter was born of Italian parents and lived in Rome from 1821 to 1835. In 1833 his reputation was made by this very painting, his best known work. It was commissioned by Prince Anatole Demidov and dedicated to Czar Nicholas I. Back in Russia he was a great favorite of the aristocracy and intelligencia. But due to failing health, he returned to Italy in 1849 and died three years later in Rome at the age of fifty-three years. This masterpiece has been shown in the Louvre and is currently in the Russian Museum, St. Petersburg, Russia.
