Attersee (classic landscape canvasart print)
This is a reproduction of Emile Friants "Heimkeh von der Jagd Am Attersee" of 1889. The title loosely translates as "Hurrying Home with the herd on the Attersee". The Attersee is the largest fresh-water lake in Austria and this is a beautiful rendition of the nineteenth century region. Friedrich Gauermann was fond of depicting everyday events in the German countryside. He learned largely from his father Jacob Gauermann. Friedrich excelled in depicting humans and animals in juxtaposition, usually in mountain landscapes. The original is in a private collection.
